Jersey City Public Schools celebrated the district-wide water remediation project completion!

It took six years at a cost estimated at more than $17 million but water at all Jersey City public schools is now declared to be lead-free and safe to drink for the district’s 27,500 students.

Students and parents joined educators and city officials last Thursday in a celebration of this milestone achievement in the newly refurbished auditorium of Alexander Sullivan Elementary School 30 in Ward A.

Among the celebrants was Joe Cunha, executive director of the Jersey City Municipal Utilities Authority, which was a key player in helping implement the improvements.

The school event was attended by Mayor Steven Fulop, Hudson County Commissioner William O’Dea and City Council members Denise Ridley and James Solomon.

Dr. Fernandez would like to recognize the School Drinking Water Project Committee, the Public Officials, and all who attended The Jersey City Public Schools Clean Water Celebration at Alexander D. Sullivan School, PS #30.

This video montage featuring students from throughout our district, was aired during the  "Schools Drinking Water Day Celebration" event at Alexander D. Sullivan School, PS #30!

Mayor Fulop took time out of his busy schedule to lend his support to the Jersey City Public Schools and a cause he has embraced: Clean drinking water for the students of the Jersey City Public Schools District.
